Fantastic tutorial, I was actually just thinking about getting GIMP a few days back, cause PS usually has ridiculous prices. So does all of this generally relate to it to? Can I find things on GIMP that are the same as the tools you used on photoshop?
the thing I find troubling with Gimp is that while it supports a tablet, it does NOT support pressure sensitivity, which is key. The line's aren't as smooth and It's pretty difficult learning how to use it. Also, a lot of the functions are very faulty. I recommend using Paint tool SAI - it's cheap, has easy functions, and it's pressure sensitivity works even better than Photoshop. You can download a free trial online for 30 days, and then when the trial runs out, you can buy it for 60 bucks or less. Also, since it's supported in a different way than Photoshop and Gimp, it'll never crash. Gimp will suddenly stop working about every five minutes, and you'll lose all your data. You have no idea how many times that's happened to me.
Never heard of that, hm... so its like a really good version of Paint? I'll try it, thanks man! Now all I need to do first it get a cheapo tablet and a better graphics card (Idk if I need it for that paint thing, but im a gamer as well )
lol, i know nothing about graphics cards, so you probably don't need one. And just remember - the cheaper the tablet, the less quality your art will have I'm lucky I got a really nice wacom Intuos4 for xmas~ You're really going to love the tablet tho, lol. SAI is pretty popular, though! and use SAI, as well as some of the most well-known anime artists on dA! I recommend you go check out their art just to see what it can do If you got any more questions, feel free to ask me! I'll probably be able to help you out~
I'm only getting a cheap one so I can get used to it, and I agree I think ill love it, its also mostly so I don't spend a bunch of money on something I suck at though, ill wait till im real good and save up for a nice one, unless wacom Intuos 4 or SAI are in the ball park of 100$ then ill just get one of though probably.
